In this system, the day does not begin at midnight or at dawn — it begins at nightfall. The sacred week itself opens on Saturday night, at the close of Shabbat, rather than Sunday morning.
Both day and night are each divided into 12 equal relative hours — proportional hours that lengthen in summer and shorten in winter, rather than the fixed 60-minute hour of the clock. Sunrise and sunset for your exact location define the boundaries.
Governance of these hours rotates through a 14-shift weekly cycle. One of seven angels and one of seven demons is paired to each shift, and the cycle repeats continuously.
